Women's Basketball: Eagles Fall In All-Time Home Finale To Becker, 63-55

Escarlin Reynoso

Nashua – Escarlin Reynoso (Lawrence, Mass.) led host Daniel Webster with a game-high 23 points but Becker used a fourth quarter surge to top the Eagles and close out the final women's basketball game at Mario Vagge Gymnasium with a 63-55 victory in a NECC meeting Thursday night.

DWC finished its final regular season 8-17 overall (6-12 NECC) in seventh place and will play at least once more in the NECC quarterfinal round next Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. with a second-seeded opponent to be determined.

Becker (14-10, 13-4 NECC) was led by Ciara McKissick (Charlton, Mass.) who posted a double double of 16 points and 16 rebounds while Mariah Triplett was the only other Hawk to reach double figures with 13 points. Adrianna Dowdy (East Haven, Conn.) scored nine points with seven boards and Katey Anderson (Beachwood, N.J.) chipped in with eight.

Kayla Free (Quincy, Mass.) notched 12 points for Daniel Webster, adding six rebounds. Natasha Santana (Lawrence) picked up eight points with a game-best seven assists and had three steals.

DWC held Becker to just five first quarter points and led 24-21 at the half before Becker eventually pulled even at 41 all after three.

The hosts stayed in front as late as 5:50 remaining after an Amanda Gendron (Mt. Vernon, N.H.) jumper made it a 51-50 game, but Dowdy answered with a layup and A Triplett three with 3:44 left pushed the lead to six (57-51) and the Eagles pulled no closer than four down the stretch.

Prior to the contest, Free, Briana Diggs (Washington, DC) and McKenzie Stone (Shelton, Conn.) were honored as part of senior night activities.
