Women's Basketball: Bosques Named NECC Player Of The Week
Nashua, N.H. - Daniel Webster College women's basketball player Vanessa Bosques of North Windham, Conn. (Windham HS) has been named "Player of the Week" by the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC). It marks her first Player of the Week award in her collegiate career.
Bosques, a sophomore shooting guard, averaged 20.3 points per game along with 5.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.7 steals in helping the Eagles to a perfect 3-0 week against NECC competition. She shot 49-percent from the field (20-41), 50-percent from beyond the arc (13-26) and was a perfect 8-for-8 at the free throw line.
Bosques opened the week knocking down five three-pointers as part of a game-high 20-point, eight assist effort in a 74-62 decision over Southern Vermont College on February 2nd.
She followed with 18 points, going 7-of-9 from the field with
four three pointers, and added four steals in an 86-41 win at
Becker College on February 4th.
Bosques closed the week with a game high 23 points including four
more threes, adding seven rebounds, three assists and a career high
three blocks as the Eagles bested Elms College, 69-48 on February
6th.
On the season, Bosques remains the scoring leader in the NECC with 17.9 points per game, is the league's top free-throw shooter (91 percent), stands second in three-point shooting (38-percent) and is eighth in blocked shots per game. She is adding 6.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.6 steals over 20 starts.
Under the direction of third year Head Coach Heather Jacobs, the Eagles continue their best season in program history. The Eagles stand 16-4 overall and are undefeated in league play at 11-0 with five league games remaining.
The Eagles return to action on Tuesday, February 9th when they visit Wheelock College in a NECC game beginning at 7:00 p.m.
