Athletics: 10 Student-Athletes Named To NECC Spring Academic All Conference Team
The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) has announced that 10 Daniel Webster College student-athletes have been named to the Spring Academic All-Conference Team.

Softball From the Tewksbury (Mass.) Town Crier: "Delponte catches Coach of the Year honor"
The future looks bright for the Daniel Webster softball program under the apt leadership of Head Coach Danielle Delponte, who was named NECC Coach of the Year last week. The Tewksbury native holds the position at the young age of 25, and has demonstrated in her inaugural season with the team that it doesn’t take years of coaching experience to steer a collegiate softball program towards victory.

Softball: Eagles Best Season Ends In ECAC Quarters at Brandeis
The most successful season in Daniel Webster softball history came to a close on Wednesday as host and top-seed Brandeis topped the eighth-seeded Eagles, 7-1 in the quarterfinals of the ECAC New England Championship tournmament, the first ever apperance for DWC.

Softball: Four Earn All Conference, DelPonte Takes Top Coaching Honors
Four Daniel Webster softball student-athletes have earned all-conference honors as selected by the conference coaches and announced Monday by the conference office. Junior Chelsey Crawford was named to the all-conference first team, junior Samantha Hill and freshman Sarah Durocher were named to the second team, and senior Amy Waller earned honorable mention. Head Coach Danielle DelPonte earned “Coach of the Year” honors after guiding the squad to its most successful season in program history.

Athletics: Waller, Adinolfo Named Student-Athletes Of Year Headlining DWC Annual Awards Night
Senior Amy Waller of Berlin, Mass. (Tahanto HS) and sophomore Josh Adinolfo of Manchester, N.H. (Governor Dummer Academy) were recently honored as the male and female Student-Athletes of the Year respectively, headlining the annual Daniel Webster College Athletics Awards Night ceremony on Thursday, May 3rd in the Collings Auditorium on the College campus.

Softball: Eagles Play On, Earn First Ever Spot In ECAC Tournament
The most successful softball season in Daniel Webster College history isn’t done yet. The program has been selected as the eighth and final seed of the ECAC New England Championship tournament – the first tournament selection in its history – as announced today by the ECAC headquarters in Centerville, Mass.

The NECC Softball Championship: DESPITE LOSS IN FINAL, EAGLES HOLD HEADS HIGH
The most surprising and remarkable season in Daniel Webster softball history came to a close on Saturday as the third-seeded Eagles once again upset second-seeded Mitchell in the semifinal round but again fell short to Lesley, 11-3 in the tournament final on the campus of Wellesley College. DWC finished with a program-record 23-19 overall mark and reached the finals of a conference tournament for the first time.

The NECC Softball Tournament: EAGLES RUSH PAST MARINERS INTO SEMIFINALS, 11-2
The third-seeded Daniel Webster softball team continued its remarkable season, scoring a surprising, 11-2 victory over second-seeded Mitchell, before dropped a 9-0 decision to top-seed Lesley Friday at the NECC final four played on the campus of Wellesley College and hosted by Lesley. The split moves the Eagles (22-18) into the final three of the tourney.

Softball: Eagles Set New Wins Record With Sweep Of Newbury, Host Regis Tuesday In Playoff
Samantha Hill combined to knock in five runs, Chelsey Crawford had an in-the-park home run and Daniel Webster pitching combined to allow just four earned runs over 14 innings as the Eagles swept Newbury, 9-3 and 5-2 and broke the program record for both overall and conference victories in a season Saturday at Eagle Field. The sweep pushed the Eagles to 20-17 overall (12-6 NECC), good for third place in the NECC final standings, also marking the best finish in program history.

Softball: Eagles To host "Pink Game" Cancer Fundraiser Saturday Against Newbury
The Daniel Webster College softball team with join the fight against cancer this Saturday against Newbury College, hosting a "Pink Game" in an effort to raise awareness and funds towards the cure for cancer. The DWC softball team will be donating all the proceeds to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The games begin at Noon.

Rookie Sarah Durocher (Keene, N.H.) allowed one run on four hits for a complete game victory, striking out five and walking two as host Daniel Webster topped Bay Path, 4-1 to earn a split of a New England Collegiate Conference doubleheader after the Wildcats took the opener, 7-6 Saturday afternoon at Eagle Field.

Pinch runner Trista Commeau scored the go-ahead run on an error in the bottom of the sixth inning and rookie Sarah Durocher finished a solid afternoon with a spotless seventh for a complete game victory as host Daniel Webster held off Becker, 4-3 to earn a split in a pair of New England Collegiate Conference softball matchups Sunday at Eagle Field after Becker had rallied for a 12-10 victory in the opener.

Senior Amy Waller continued her hot hand, combining to hit 6 for 8 at the leadoff spot knocking in three runs and Samantha Hill combined to go 4 for 6 with four RBI helping host Daniel Webster to a sweep of Fisher College, 11-3 and 15-1 in a pair of five-inning regional games Tuesday at Eagle Field. Sarah Durocher knocked in five runs over the two wins, adding a complete game victory in the nightcap.

Softball: Brennan Honored With First NECC "Player Of The Week" Award
Daniel Webster College softball player Courtney Brennan of Beverly, Mass. has been named the NECC “Player of the Week,” announced Monday by the conference office. Brennan, a sophomore third baseman and outfielder, hit .643 (9-14) with a double and seven RBI over a four-game stretch this past week as the Eagles went 3-1 overall.

Freshman Heather Strong went 3 for 3 knocking in two runs while Samantha Hill and Courtney Brennan added two hits and two RBI as host Daniel Webster topped Rivier, 8-6 in game one of a doubleheader split Thursday at Eagle Field. Rivier responded with a 20-hit attack as part of a 16-5 victory in the nightcap.

Suddenly winners of five of their last six after a 0-9 start, the Daniel Webster softball team swept a NECC doubleheader over host Regis on a cold and wet Saturday afternoon. The Eagles won game one, 7-6, in eight innings and followed that up with a 4-3 victory in the second game of the day.

The Daniel Webster softball team dropped a pair of single contests Tuesday afternoon as they continue their season-opening swing through Florida, dropping a 6-1 decision to Framingham State and a 10-0 decision to Otterbein. Amanda Wilson pushed home the Eagle’s sole run of the day with a RBI single in the fifth inning of game one.

Athletics: Daniel Webster Names Danielle DelPonte Head Softball Coach
The Daniel Webster College department of athletics has announced the appointment of Danielle DelPonte as new head coach of the Eagles softball program. DelPonte is a 2009 graduate of the University of Connecticut where she played four seasons with the Huskies in the Big East. She joins DWC after serving the past years as a top assistant coach at Boston College and the two previous seasons as assistant coach at Springfield College.
