Men's Volleyball: Hendrix Named NECC Rookie Of The Week

Nashua – Daniel Webster men's volleyball newcomer Joel Hendrix of Keneohe, Hawaii (Castle HS) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) "Rookie of the Week" it was announced Monday by the conference office.

Hendrix, a middle blocker, enjoyed a strong beginning to his collegiate career last week, averaging 2.80 kills and 2.10 digs per set, hit .235 (28 k, 12 e, 68 att) and chipped in with two service aces and eight total blocks in a pair of five-set losses.

Hendrix knocked down 10 kills, hit. 238, and added two aces, five digs and five total blocks in a 3-2 loss to Newbury College in the Eagles season opener on February 2nd, and followed with 18 kills, hit. 234, and added 16 digs and three total blocks at Southern Vermont College on February 4th.

The Eagles stand 0-2 overall on the young season and return to action on Thursday, February 9th when they host Elms College for a NECC matchup beginning at 7:00 p.m.
