Nashua - Fresh on the heels of his NECC Player of the Week
award, Daniel Webster College men's soccer player Spencer Bernard
of Windsor Locks, Conn. has also been named the prestigious ECAC
Division III New England Co-Player of the Week by the Eastern
College Athletic Conference.
It marks the first such award for Bernard in his collegiate career
and is also the first for the DWC program.
Bernard, a sophomore forward, posted three goals this past week
guiding the Eagles to a pair of wins.
Bernard scored the first goal of the game as the Eagles shutout
Mount Ida College in a regional matchup on September 29th, and
followed with two goals including the game winner with 1:48
remaining in overtime as the Eagles topped NECC foe Elms College on
October 2nd.
Through seven games thus far, Bernard leads the squad with six
goals and two assists for 14 points.
Under the guidance of third year Head Coach Bill Lawler, the Eagles
(5-2 overall, 2-0 NECC) have won five straight after a 0-2 start,
the longest win streak for the program in its history. The Eagles
return to action Tuesday night when they visit their longtime cross
town rival Rivier College at 7:00 p.m.
