Men's Lacrosse: Eagles Use Third Quarter Rally To Run Past Lions, 14-9

Boston, Mass. – Daniel Webster trailed by as many as four goals in the second quarter but used a decisive seven goal third quarter to post a 14-9 come-from-behind victory over Emerson in a regional matchup Saturday night at Rotch Field.

Tre Mason (Kelowna, B.C.) notched 10 points with six goals and four assists and Gavin Abbot racked up eight points on three goals and five assists as the Eagles evened their record at 2-2.

Tanner Todd and Brian Visco added a pair of goals each for the winners.

Emerson (1-1) led 3-1 in the first quarter, would extend the advantage to 5-2 and later 7-3 midway through the second before DWC closed the gap with three straight – two coming from Abbott and the third from Mason – to trail 7-6 at the half.

Abbot opened the third to tie the game at seven 2:28 into the quarter and the teams traded goals for an 8-8 game before Visco finally gave DWC its first lead with 7:15 to go in the frame. It would prove to be the goal that put the visitors ahead for good as Mason would rattle off three straight in the span of just 33 seconds, and Visco sandwiched that run with2:16 left for a 13-8 lead after three.

DWC outshot Emerson 48-38 (28-21 on goal). James Bushey stopped 12 shots on the night in goal.

The Eagles are now off until Wednesday when they visit Dean at 4:00 p.m.
