Ice Hockey: Eagles Down Norwich In Regular Season Finale, 6-1
Nashua, NH – Josh Adinolfo (Manchester, N.H.) netted a hat trick and Shawn Glidden (West Bridgewater, Mass.) added a goal and two assists as Daniel Webster posted a 6-1 victory over Norwich Saturday night at Conway Arena.
Bobby Loranger (Billerica, Mass.) and Mike Hauch (Oldsmar, Fla.) added a goal and assist each and Kevin Monahan II (Nashua) made 25 saves as the Eagles finished their regular season 11-8 overall and 10-5 in divisional play.
The Eagles earned a first round bye in the NECHA Colonial Division tournament and will find out who they face later this week as they will once again host the final four in two weeks at Conway Arena.
The Eagles, who outshot the Cadets 40-26, held a 1-0 lead after one on Loranger's score off a Glidden feed and broke it open with three in the second to lead 4-0 after two.
Adinolfo upped it to 2-0 off Glidden 39 seconds into the period and Hauch made it 3-0 just 59 seconds later off a Ricky Stuart pass. Adinolfo tacked on a power play score at the 4:38 mark for the 4-0 lead.
DWC put it away in the third as Adinolfo upped it to 5-0 with a short-handed tally 4:49 in and Glidden added a power play goal off Hauch with 9:12 to go. N
Norwich would break the shutout bid with 7:24 remaining.
The Eagles will be bidding to reach the NECHA finals for the fifth time in six seasons next weekend. DWC would be seeking its first title since 2007.
