Men's Ice Hockey: Eagles Get Fifth Win, Down WPI 5-3
Marlboro, Mass. – Five different players lit the lamp and the Daniel Webster hockey team improved to 5-2 overall with a 5-3 victory over host WPI Friday night in a NECHA Colonial North Divisional matchup at the New England Sports Center.
Shawn Glidden (West Bridgewater, Mass.) set up two goals while K.J. Monahan (Nashua) made 40 saves as the Eagles also improved to 4-2 in NECHA play.
Mike Hauch (Clearwater, Fla.) got the Eagles going at the 9:59 mark for DWC, while Luis Rodriguez (Lake Worth, Fla.) followed just 26 seconds later and Ronnie Corcoran (Tyngsboro, Mass.) added a power play strike with 2:01 to go in the first and DWC held a 3-1 lead after one.
Tyler Bonin (Litchfield, N.H.) upped the lead to 4-1 at the 4:10 mark of the season off a Josh Adinolfo (Manchester, N.H.) pass that Glidden also assisted and the Eagles led 4-2 after two.
Bobby Loranger (Billerica, Mass.) upped the lead to 5-2 just 28 seconds into the third and the Engineers tacked on a later score for the 5-3 final.
WPI finished with a 43-32 shots advantage on the night.
The Eagles visit Roger Williams Saturday evening.
