Ice Hockey: Eagles Double Up On Castleton, 10-5

Nashua – Sophomore newcomer Josh Adinolfo (Manchester, N.H.) led all scorers with two goals and two assists while Ronnie Corcoran (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and Marcus Marion (Riverview, Fla.) netted two scored apiece as Daniel Webster doubled up Castleton, 10-5 in a wild NECHA Colonial Conference clash Saturday night at Conway Arena.

Shawn Glidden (West Bridgewater, Mass.) and Michael Hauch (Clearwater, Fla.) added a goal and two assists each as the Eagles improved to 2-1 on the early season and picked up their first NECHA victory (1-1).

Tyler Bonin (Litchfield, N.H.) and Bobby Loranger (Billerica, Mass.) added single goals.

DWC looked to have things under control by the midpoint of the second period before the Spartans made things interesting late.

After Castleton jumped ahead 1-0 seven minutes in, Marion tied it on the power play off a Hauch feed, sparking a three-goal blitz over the final 5:27 of the first with scores from Corcoran a minute later and Loranger's strike with 2:07 to go and DWC lead 3-1 after one.

The Eagles opened the second with four straight over the first 13 minutes threatening a blowout. Bonin's score made it 4-1 at the 4:06 mark while Corcoran and Glidden potted scores 17 seconds apart for a 6-1 lead with 13:13 left in the second.

Marion's goal with 7:01 to go made it 7-1 but Castleton would rally scoring three times in the final 6:25 for a 7-4 lead after two.

Adinolfo regained a four goal lead with his first of the night with 14;14 to go in the third and after a Spartan score cut the lead to 8-4 with 10:23 left, the Eagles pulled away with Adinolfo's second with 7:05 remaining. Hauch tacked on his first with 2:06 left.

K.J. Monahan registered 45 saves for the Eagles, who eked out a 51-50 shots on goal advantage.

The Eagles host Coast Guard next Saturday night in a NECHA Colonial Conference matchup beginning at 8:20 p.m.
