Golf: Eagles Top Green Mountain, Johnson State

Poultney, Vt - The Daniel Webster golf team put together a balanced lineup, led by Mike Fuller's (Chelmsford, Mass.) 87, and had all four scorers shoot under 100 on the way to a tri-meet victory over host Green Mountain and Johnson State on Saturday afternoon.

Fuller, who finished third, was followed by K.P. Krupinski (Woodstock, Conn.) at 91 in fourth, Corey Sabaitis shot a 96 for eighth, John Paglio (Portland, Maine) shot a 99 for 10th, and John Sigman (Litchfield, N.H.) hit for 102 to place 12th.

The stellar play of freshmen Tim Daniels and the strong support of senior Mark Thiong'o, who finished first and second overall, was not enough to propel Green Mountain to the top of the day. Daniel Webster narrowly held off Johnson State College 373 to 378, to take home the team title.

Daniels posted a final score of 79, four shots ahead of teammate Thiong'o, to get Green Mountain off to a good start. This balance was enough to squeak past the Badgers of Johnson State College who were led by the trio of Tom Kibourn, Kevin King and Ira Tillman who shot a 93, 93, and 94 respectively.

The Eagles, now 3-1 overall in head-to-head scoring, head to the annual NECC Championship tourney. The two day event is hosted by Babson College next weekend.
