Men's Basketball: Eagles Surge Past SVC For Fourth Straight, 85-67

Bennington, Vt. – Daris Cosby (Albany, N.Y.) continued his strong play of late with a game high 24 points, John Hickson (Springfield, Mass.) drained four three-pointers on the way to 21 points and Daniel Webster surged to their fourth straight victory pulling away for an 85-67 victory over host Southern Vermont in a NECC contest Tuesday night.

Aiden Collins (Paterson, N.J.) added 12 points off the bench and pulled down nine rebounds and Dave Schindewolf (Robbinsville, N.J.) chipped in with eight points and nine boards as the Eagles improved to 8-13 overall (7-6 NECC). David Feinstein (Londonderry, N.H.) dished off a team-best six assists.

DWC maintained its hold on fourth place in the league standings and pulling within half a game of Elms for third place with three games remaining and setting up an important showdown with the Blazers Thursday night in Chicopee, Mass.

Taeshon Johnson led the Mountaineers (2-19, 2-11 NECC) with a game high 33 points. Hunter Stratton added 14.

DWC never trailed and saw only one tie early on (2-2) jumping out to a 12-4 lead over the first five minutes and build the lead out to as many as 14 as part of a 10-0 run with five different players scoring ending with a David Kulowitch (San Diego, Cal.) jumper for a 27-13 lead with 2:33 to go in the first. The Eagles led 33-20 at the break.

DWC never let SVC close than nine in the second half and ice it after Cosby buried a layup, drained a three and Feinstein followed inside for a commanding 73-54 game with 3:46 to go. The Eagles also went 8 of 8 at the line on the final minute and a half to keep SVC at bay.

The Eagles would finish hitting 49-percent from the field including a scorching 63-percent in the second half and limited SVC to just 22-percent from the field in the first. DWC also added an important 43-33 advantage on the glass on the night.

DWC returns to action tipping off at Elms on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. for their final regular season road contest and hosts Wheelock on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.
