Field Hockey: Mortin, Brennan Pace Eagles Past Bay Path, 3-1
East Longmeadow, Mass. – Sophomore Shelby Mortin (N. Kingstown, R.I.) notched a goal and assist and set up the go-ahead score with in the 30th minute helping Daniel Webster past Bay Path, 3-1 in a New England Collegiate Conference field hockey matchup Saturday.
Courtney Brennan (Beverly, Mass.) picked up two assists, while Samantha Bark (Belfast, Maine) and Meghan Walsh (Stoughton, Mass.) notched solo scores as the Eagles improved to 4-6 overall (2-1 NECC).
Shayna Fish scored for the host Wildcats (2-8, 0-3 NECC).
Fish put the hosts ahead off a Katherine Chabot feed just 10 minutes into the contest before Mortin would tie it converting a penalty stroke five and a half minutes later.
Bark would break the tie poking home a Mortin pass that started off the stick of Brennan with five minutes to go in the half and DWC led 2-1 at the break.
Walsh would help ice it with her first of the season off a Brennan feed with 15 minutes remaining.
Amy Prince (Hope Valley, R.I.) stopped four Wildcat shots in goal for DWC, while Sam Berrios made three saves for Bay Path.
