Baseball: Eagles Drop Pair To Mitchell In Harvey Woods Field Farewell

Nashua, N.H. – College athletics on the Daniel Webster College campus is now no more.

While the Daniel Webster baseball program still has three games remaining before closing the history books for good, the final home games at Harvey Woods Field went to visiting Mitchell, as the Mariners posted a NECC sweep with scores of 15-0 and 10-1 in NECC action in raw and drizzly conditions Monday.

Kyle Hodgdon (Cheshire, Conn.) became the final Eagle to register a hit on the field, connecting for a leadoff single to center to lead off the bottom of the fifth of game two as he finished 2 for 3 on the day. Mike Pelletier (Pelham, N.H.), meanwhile scored the final Eagle run coming home in the bottom of the seventh on an error, after reaching on an error and stealing second.

Dan Mullins (Nashua) and Dakota Williams (Hudson, N.H.) accounted for DWC's other two hits.

The Eagles (5-22, 2-14 NECC) play their final conference games Tuesday with a doubleheader at Southern Vermont before playing the final all-time game Wednesday night against Rivier at Holman Stadium at 7:30 p.m.

Mitchell (27-11, 14-4 NECC) got three RBI in game one from Garet Griffin (Moosup, Conn.) on two hits. Francis Prettitore (Bayville, N.Y.), Tyler Pina (Plainville, Conn.), Steven Gonzalez (Union City, N.J.) Markus Melendes (Storrs. Conn.) all knocked in two runs each.

The Mariners posted two runs in the third, one in the fourth and four in the sixth before putting up eight in the top of the seventh.

Williams, Rudy Acosta (Nashua), Matt Alberino (Medford, Mass.), and Dylan McDonough (Billerica, Mass.) registered the hits for DWC.

Jakari Pellegrini (New Britain, Conn.) picked up the win (2-2).


In the nightcap, Pina led the Mariners knocking in three and went 2 for 3 with a RBI triple, while Steven Pagan (Oceanside, Cal.) added a pair of hits and knocked in one.


Connor Dulin (Waterford, Conn.) picked up the win (1-0).
