Baseball: DeLuca Goes 5 For 5 In Eagles Loss To Elms

Nashua, N.H. – Host Daniel Webster saw a remarkable 5 for 5 performance from Brad DeLuca (Nashua) who connected for five singles and two RBI but the Eagles fell to Elms, 14-6 in a NECC matchup Sunday at Harvey Wood Field.

The Blazers (16-18, 11-6 NECC), who swept a three-game weekend series, plated three runs in the third and after the Eagles cut the lead to 3-2 in the fourth, took control with three in the fifth and a five-run sixth.

Mike Gamache (Manchester, N.H.) added two hits and two RBI for DWC (5-20, 2-12 NECC), who play their final games of all-time on their home field Monday against Mitchell. The NECC doubleheader begins at Noon.

Kyle Platner (Northfield, Mass.) and Ben Ross (Thompson, Conn.) were both 3 for 4 with two RBI for the winners. Ross connected for a two-run triple in the sixth. Jordan Zima (Berlin, Conn.) was 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles and knocked in a run.

Stephen Harrison (Southbury, Conn.) picked up a two-run single for the Blazers, while Tim Gelzinis (N. Dighton, Mass.) and Alex Hoss (Stafford Springs, Conn.) added two hits each.

Matt Plasse (Westfield, Mass.) earned the win (5-2) going six innings allowing two earned runs on eight hits.

Liam McDonough (Rouses Point, N.Y.) took the loss (0-2)
