Attleboro, Mass. - Daniel Webster baseball player Matt Daulton of West Babylon, N.Y. (W. Babylon) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) "Rookie of the Week," as announced Monday by the conference office.
Daulton, a designated hitter and pitcher, hit .444 (12-27) with a slugging percentage of .630 over eight games last week as the Eagles opened their final season in Florida. Daulton posted a pair of doubles, one home run, knocked in nine runs and scored three. On the mound, he allowed three earned runs in 3 and 1/3 innings with one strikeout.
Daulton's highlights of the week included going 2 for 4 with a home run and four RBI in a loss to Becker on March 16th, while he added four additional multi-hit games. He ended the week on a seven-game hitting streak and knocked in at least one run in six of the Eagles' eight contests.
The squad is 1-7 overall (0-3 NECC) and is scheduled to return to action on Thursday against Lyndon State at 3:30 p.m., field conditions permitting.
