Athletics: 10 Student-Athletes Named To NECC Spring Academic All Conference Team
The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) has announced that 10 Daniel Webster College student-athletes have been named to the Spring Academic All-Conference Team.

J.P. Pyne had already started reflecting on just how monumental a spring it’s been Daniel Webster College baseball, a program he built from scratch. “It’s tough now but eventually you have to take a step back and look at everything,” Pyne said a little while after his team was eliminated from its first-ever NCAA regional. “I was talking with my staff the night before the game, and you think about it. We’ve come a long way from 2-8 and 0-3 (in the New England Collegiate Conference). “In everything we were doing, our team really matured. We started to get more focused and determined to play our game.”

A pair of Daniel Webster College baseball players have picked up honors from the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) as senior pitcher Kory Kiro of Goffstown, N.H. will play one more game, while teammate and rookie Kyle Brigham of Hudson, N.H. has earned third team all-region accolades.

Despite a tall task in front of them, the Daniel Webster baseball team held its ground offensively but four errors hurt their cause as top-seeded and third-ranked Keystone College of Pennsylvania posted a 13-7 victory over the Eagles in the opening round of the 2012 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Wednesday at FirstEnergy Park.

The Daniel Webster baseball team has a NCAA tournament destination. The Eagles have been seeded eighth and will head to Lakewood, N.J. for the eight-team Mid-Atlantic Regional hosted by Kean University. The Eagles will take on top-seeded and third-ranked Keystone College (35-5) on Wednesday beginning at 1:15 p.m.

Senior Amy Waller of Berlin, Mass. (Tahanto HS) and sophomore Josh Adinolfo of Manchester, N.H. (Governor Dummer Academy) were recently honored as the male and female Student-Athletes of the Year respectively, headlining the annual Daniel Webster College Athletics Awards Night ceremony on Thursday, May 3rd in the Collings Auditorium on the College campus.

Baseball: Eagles Sweep NECC's Weekly Honors
Three Daniel Webster baseball players swept the NECC weekly awards, announced Monday morning by the conference office. Korey LeLievre of Hudson, N.H. was named “Player of the Week,” Aaron Agrelo was named “Pitcher of the Week,” and Erick Bourdeau was named “Rookie of the Week.” All three were named to the all-tournament team of the NECC Championship on Sunday with Bourdeau being named Most Valuable Player.

A few years ago, Korey LeLievre saw his team come up short in a championship game. He wasn’t about to let that happen again. LeLievre was a member of the Alvirne High School baseball team that fell to Keene in the 2009 NHIAA Class L finals, but on Sunday he pitched Daniel Webster College to its first NCAA Divison III baseball tournament berth.

The NECC Baseball Tournament: EAGLES LATE RALLY TOPS ELMS IN OPENER, 8-7
Top-seed Daniel Webster opened the NECC Championship tournament with a late eighth-inning rally to top fourth-seeded Elms, 8-7 while third-seeded Newbury broke a 6-6 tie with a pair of runs in the top of the ninth inning and held on for an 8-6 victory over second-seeded Becker Friday at Harvey Woods Field. The wins set up an Eagles-Nighthawks matchup scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday in the winners bracket, while Elms and Becker play an elimination game at 10:00 a.m.

For the second time this season, Daniel Webster College third baseman Kyle Brigham of Hudson, N.H. has been named the NECC “Rookie of the Week,” announced Monday by the conference office. Brigham, a 6-1 freshman, also earned the award on March 26th. This past week, he hit .611 with four RBI, five runs scored, and added a stolen base helping the Eagles to a 5-0 record.

Daniel Webster slugged its way to a 16-3 win in Game 1 and one-hit the Lynx in Game 2 of its doubleheader sweep of Lesley Saturday afternoon in NECC baseball play. Shortstop Rich Lizotte enjoyed a monster opener, going 4-for-4 with two home runs and eight RBI, and Erick Bourdeau went 4-for-4 with four runs scored. In Game 2, starter Aaron Agrelo took a no-hitter into the sixth and struck out five Lynx in twirling a one-hitter.
