Kiro Honored As NECC Pitcher of the Week
Nashua - The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) has
announced that Daniel Webster College baseball player Kory Kiro of
Goffstown, N.H. has been named the Conference's Pitcher of the
Week.
Kiro, a freshman, went 2-0 this past week, posting a perfect 0.00
ERA over a span of 10 innings, striking out 11 and walking
five.
Kiro opened the week with a masterful, complete game seven-inning
1-0 victory at Mitchell College on April 23rd. Kiro scattered four
hits in the contest, striking out eight and walking three.
Kiro followed with three innings of relief and was credited with
the victory in the Eagles' 9-8 come-from-behind win over cross-town
rival Rivier College on April 26th. With the Eagles trailing 8-3,
Kiro shut the door on the Raiders over the final three innings
allowing no hits and no runs, striking out three and walking
two.
The Eagles won the game rallying for three runs in the bottom of
the eighth and three more in the bottom of the ninth.
On the season, Kiro sports a 4-3 overall record with a 5.72 ERA in
50 1/3 innings pitched. He owns four complete games in 10
appearances having struck out 48 and walked 19.
At the plate, Kiro is hitting .243 with 13 RBI and two stolen
bases.
The Eagles stand 6-24 overall and close out their 2009 campaign
Tuesday afternoon at Norwich University.
