Eagles Swept By Cobleskill
Auburndale, Fla. - The Daniel Webster College baseball team
dropped a pair of non-conference games today against
SUNY-Cobleskill. In game one the Fighting Tigers used a pair of
runs in the first inning two more in the second and held on for a
4-2 victory. In the nightcap the Eagles dug themselves into an 11-0
deficit, rallied back, but fell 12-8.
In game one sophomore hurler Trevor Duggleby (Nashua, N.H.) went
the distance (0-1) allowing four runs (three earned), walking
three, while the Eagles managed four hits off three Fighting Tiger
pitchers.
In game two, the Eagles defense suffered an early letdown allowing
six runs in the opening stanza on four errors. Rookie southpaw T.J.
Fotiathis (Granby, CT) battled through on the mound allowing nine
runs, but just two earned. Fotiathis (0-1) struck out three in
three innings, walking three.
In the fifth the Eagles (0-4) rallied with three hits, three walks
and were aided by an error to rally for seven runs. Each team would
add a late run for the 12-8 final. Junior first baseman Chuck
Manning (Riverside, R.I.) led the offense going 1-1 with a pair of
walks. Shortstop Tyler Calkin (Brookline, N.H.) chipped in a pair
of RBI.
The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday, March 11, when the
take on Mt. St. Mary College at the Disney Hess Complex in
Kissimmee, Fla. at 9:00 a.m.
