Now in his seventh year overall with Daniel Webster College, Ken Belbin serves as the assistant director of athletics as well as sports information director and compliance officer.
Belbin's efforts include meeting NCAA compliance rules, event
management, personnel management, budget tracking, coordinating and
disseminating statistics, writing press releases, producing
photography, archiving, along with contacting local and regional
media representatives, and providing department general management
duties.
Belbin has also created, designed, and maintained two separate
upgrades of the College's athletics website including the recent
launch of the Eagles current home in November 2009.
Belbin has worked for 17 years in the media field. After graduating from Saint Anselm College in 1995 with a degree in English, he returned to his alma mater less than a year later and served for five years as director of sports information, managing the day-to-day media relations of the Hawks' 19 NCAA Division II varsity athletic programs.
Belbin went on to serve four years as assistant commissioner and director of media relations with the Northeast-10 Conference (NCAA II) in Easton, Mass., the largest Division II athletic conference in the nation, comprising 23 championship sports. There, he was part of the NE-10's creation of its "Game of the Week" broadcasting package, assisted with the redesign and relaunch of the conference's website, oversaw the establishment of the league's annual media events, helped establish the inaugural NE-10 Hall of Fame, and served as a liaison to the NCAA national office.
He followed by spending two years as sports information director at Phillips Exeter Academy (Exeter, N.H.) and spent one year as assistant commissioner and director of media relations with the East Coast Conference (NCAA II) based in Central Islip, N.Y.
Belbin is a past reporter with two daily newspapers in Rhode Island and has served as a sports correspondent with the Associated Press in Concord, N.H.
Along with his assistant director duties at Daniel Webster,
Belbin has served past roles in the College's office of development
as public relations assistant and fundraising officer.
Locally, Belbin served for four years as a member of the
steering committee of IUGO Nashua, an initiative driven and
supported by the Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce. The committee
sponsors a continuing program of social and professional
events for young professionals that provide social engagements,
professional networking opportunities, and enhance leadership and
management skills.
A native of Warwick, R.I., Belbin and his wife, Alicia reside in Merrimack, N.H. with their infant son, Liam.
